I deposited after the swap timer expired and the rate changed
Yes, that explains what happened. The swap timer protects you from market movement, and once it expires, the quote is no longer valid.

Status: waiting for your deposit
You send from your own wallet straight to the exchanger — nothing to connect, no account, and you stay on this page throughout. Rates are indicative until a swap is opened.
The swap is carried out by an independent exchanger and the deposit address above is theirs. basedbratt.xyz never holds, receives or controls your funds, has no key to that address, and earns a referral commission. Opening a swap sends your receiving address, IP, browser and timezone to the exchanger for their compliance checks; we store none of it. Check their terms, fees and country restrictions before sending anything.
How the timer works
When you request a swap on basedbratt.xyz, the system gives you a fixed window - typically a few minutes - to complete the deposit. During that window, the exchange rate is locked. The timer is visible on the swap page, counting down from the moment the quote is generated.
If you deposit after that timer hits zero, the system treats the incoming funds as a new, unrequested deposit. It does not honor the old rate. Instead, it checks the current market price at the moment the transaction confirms on the blockchain.
Why the rate changed
Cryptocurrency prices move constantly. A quote that looked fair ten minutes ago may be significantly different now. The exchanger does not hold the old price for late deposits because it would be taking on directional market risk. If the price moved against the old quote, the exchanger would lose money. If it moved in your favor, you would get an artificially good rate. Neither outcome is fair to the system or to other users.
The rate you see after a late deposit is the live rate at confirmation time. It may be better or worse than your original quote. There is no way to know in advance.
What you can recover
The deposit itself is not lost. The system will attempt to process the swap at the current rate. If the amount still meets the minimum requirements after any network fees, the swap goes through at the new rate.
If the new rate pushes the value below the minimum, or if the deposit amount itself is too small, the swap fails. In that case, your funds are not destroyed. They remain on the exchanger's wallet. You can request a refund.
When refunds apply
A failed swap leaves your money in limbo - the exchanger holds it, but the swap did not complete. The hub page "What a failed swap leaves behind and how to recover it" explains how to request that money back. The process is not automatic. You need to contact support with the swap ID and the transaction hash. Refunds are not instantaneous; the team processes them manually to prevent abuse.
Preventing this problem
The simplest fix is to send the deposit within the active timer window. If the timer is too short, request a new quote. Do not attempt to beat a countdown that has already expired. The system is not forgiving on this point.
If you sent to an address that was generated for a now-expired swap, do not send a second deposit to the same address. That creates a different problem - double deposits - which is covered in its own page.
The rate changed because you arrived late. That is the entire explanation. The system does not adjust the clock for anyone, and it does not price swaps at historical rates.
